The Masai Mara is home to the “Big Five” (elephant, lion, leopard, rhinos and buffalo), zebra, antelope, hyena, giraffe, including black-maned lion. Lake Nakuru National Park’s biggest attraction is undoubtedly its huge flamingo population, which can swell to more than 1.5 million at times. Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake and offers unique activities like a boat ride, and a viewing of hippos.
Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara
You will be picked up from the airport or your hotel around 8:30 am and depart from Nairobi to the Masai Mara National Reserve, with a stopover at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint. After a picnic lunch on the way, you will arrive at the Masai Mara in the afternoon. Then, you will proceed for an evening game drive and return for dinner and overnight at Lenchada Camp.
Day 2: Masai Mara National Reserve
After an early breakfast, you will spend a full day exploring this unique park with a picnic lunch. The park forms the northern part of the famous Serengeti National Park. You have the chance to visit the Mara River, the border of the Masai Mara and the famous Serengeti National Park, where there is a concentration of many animals depending on the time you will be traveling. You will have lunch at the hippo pool, where you will watch hippos and other wild animals. All meals and overnight are at the camp.
Day 3: Masai Mara – Lake Nakuru
After an early breakfast, you can go on an optional visit to a Maasai village and experience their colorful culture and unique way of life. Then, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, with a picnic lunch on the way. Arriving in Nakuru in the evening, you will have dinner and an overnight stay at Buraha Zenoni Hotel & Resort
Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Lake Naivasha
After an early breakfast, you will spend the morning in Lake Nakuru National Park, where you can see flamingos among other birds (about 350 species recorded). The park is also home to the black and white rhinoceros. Established for the protection of endangered species such as the rhino, it is also home to colobus monkeys, leopards, giraffes, and a variety of plains antelopes.
Then, depart for the nearby Lake Naivasha, having a picnic lunch on the way. Go for an evening boat ride on Crescent Island, and later, have dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Chambai Safari.
Day 5: Lake Naivasha – Nairobi
After an early breakfast, proceed to Hell’s Gate National Park, where you will have a chance to visit the Geothermal Power Plant in Ol Karia and the Hot Springs. This is the only park that allows transport by walking and cycling. There is an optional visit to Crescent Island for a boat ride where you watch hippos and other wild animals.
After lunch, you will depart to Nairobi, arriving at 5 pm for drop-off at your hotel.
